The bedroom has doors that can be closed and, with a ceiling fan and mosquito nets, is a spacious and comfortable retreat at night. It’s a minute walk through the garden (we spied the biggest passion fruit we have seen!) to the pool area. We spent some very pleasant hours by the pool as Meg swam and played with a new friend who was also a guest.

A delicious breakfast (with tropical fruits) is included and eaten in the common area by the pool. There is no restaurant on site but the staff can arrange delivery from one of the excellent nearby restaurants or can organise a chef to come and cook for you. We chose this second option on our last evening and had a delicious meal cooked up by a wonderful local women who gave us some tips on which early morning markets we could visit the next day. Our villa had a fridge, crockery and utensils so we stocked up on our own food (fresh from the market!) as well. We also discovered a fantastic gelato (Gaya Gelato) place nearby, mixing tropical flavours like lemongrass, ginger and mangosteen with delicious ice cream.

Ubud is a 10 minute taxi ride away (around US$5) or a 25 minute walk  – it’s a hot walk with kids so taxis are a great cheap option for getting getting around. We also organised a driver through Pondok Wahyu to take us exploring further afield.

We loved staying at Pondok Wahyu, it was a beautiful tranquil place to relax for a few days and we hope to return sometime!

We were the guests of  Pondok Wahyu in Ubud but all views are our own. It was a beautiful place to stay!
