Hong Kong! With so much to see and do and only 5 days to do it all we needed a hotel that was central, kid-friendly and had – most importantly in the middle of a hot and steamy Hong Kong summer – a pool! After a read of reviews on TripAdvisor we found one that ticked all our boxes: the Harbour Grand Kowloon.

The Harbour Grand knows how to make kids feel special. With a VIK (Very Important Kids) red carpet welcome and her own personalised check-in, our daughter was given a VIK passport. Over the next few days she used clues to gather stickers hidden within the hotel and, once she had filled her passport, she got to choose a free gelato from the cafe. In the afternoons we’d return to our room to find a fun trivia question left for Meg testing how well she knew the hotel. Once she had found the answer, she swapped it for a delicious chocolate from the cafe. She LOVED these special details.

And it’s not only the kid’s who get to feel important! From the arrival afternoon tea (note the chocolate flowers!) to the card and cake left for us to celebrate Damien’s birthday, the Harbour Grand knows how to leave a personal touch.

We chose a harbour view room with stunning views over the Hong Kong skyline. Meg enjoyed sitting on the window ledge watching the cruise ships, ferries and fishing boats ply the waters of Victoria Harbour. Our room was spacious, well equipped and had a king sized bed. Hotel staff arranged an additional single bed for Meg.

With the Hung Hom/North Point ferry a 5 minute stroll along the waterfront promenade and a complimentary shuttle bus leaving (and returning to) the hotel every half hour, getting around was super easy.

We’d return from exploring every afternoon and head straight to the roof-top pool. The glass-sided infinity pool is large and has plenty of loungers for relaxing whilst the kids cool off in the pool. There is also a life guard on site.

Situated in Whampoa Garden, there are many cafes and 7 Eleven type shops to stock up on snacks and drinks before heading out for the day. We purchased fruit and pharmacy items from the nearby supermarket.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Harbour Grand Kowloon. It provided cool and peaceful respite in an otherwise hot and bustling (but exciting!) Hong Kong. Friendly staff, personalised family-friendly service, location and a spectacular roof top pool make the Harbour Grand a good choice for families. We hope to stay again some time soon!
